Hey @socialhome HQ wie kommt es eigentlich das du noch ein Netzwerk in der Föderation auf gemacht hast? Wer oder was steckt eigentlich hinter socialhome?

mar_k83, as Erik already said (thanks!), I don't speak German. Though, translation tools do a pretty good job so I don't mind questions in German.

Hey @socialhome HQ how is it actually that you still have a network in the federation on? Who or what is actually behind socialhome? Are you a single fighter or have you been a team or company? And where exactly is socialhome developed? Will socialhome soon also support jabber? Yours sincerely mar_k83

Socialhome has been authored by Jason Robinson, also writing all these HQ account posts. Socialhome is mostly a one man effort at the moment, though recently another developer Augier has joined in to help rewrite the front-end JavaScript in a more modern way. I started Socialhome shortly after leaving the Diaspora core team because I wanted to hack on a federated social web project with Python/Django. Initially the plan was mainly a site for myself, but then plans got a bit bigger. Nice to see some people interested in the project!

Socialhome doesn't have an organization behind it (yet anyway). The plan is to move the code under an organization once there is more developer interest. The are no plans for a commercial company. The code is AGPLv3 licensed.

There are no plans for Jabber support. If someone wants to work on this, I certainly would not object and would help it to happen. Socialhome will be a multi-protocol server in the future anyway as we have plans to integrate with the ActivityPub network.

As Erik already said, the project is in a very alpha state. Many core features are missing. My personal goal is to reach a more "beta" kind of level by the end of the year. This would mean it would be usable enough for me myself to stop using my Diaspora account and move completely to use my Socialhome account (missing for example reshares, bookmarklet, likes, private messages, etc).

Does socialhome not come from Germany?

Socialhome comes from the Internet ;) But my servers are hosted in Hetzner datacenters in Germany. I'm physically located in Finland.

    pikkujoulumies, thanks!

Andre, as the project hasn't had any official "launch", just small constant growth, I haven't actually yet set up a project email. Thanks for the reminder, this has been on my list. Also I need to add a "team" section on the project page. For now, you can find my contact info (incl email) on my own Socialhome profile.
