I totally agree, and I have no doubt that they will burn Picard for nonsense.
Ds9 was still closest to sketching interesting developments beyond old ideas. At least they satirized old role models by transferring them to Ferengi. But all in all, only old coffee was warmed up afterwards. In countless episodes of Voyager, Enterprise or now Discovery the old clichés of human behavior are repeated. I'm sick of it.

I would still give it a try. I was hesitant but quite enjoyed it. You should just open your mind and give it a go.

@DeepThought I don't think I will, because there's no going back. No "unsee".

Besides, I tried opening my mind in a different case recently — I watched the Dark Tower movie, and it turned out to be one of the worst movies I have ever seen, even as far as movies based on books go in general.

In this case, I have absolutely no desire to watch any of it. I really don't feel like I'm missing anything, like I did when Enterprise came out, which I hadn't heard too much good about either.

I think Star Trek ran its course, and it was a great run, but remember the last episode of Generations — "All Good Things..." ;-)
I wish they would stop milking it, because that's really all it is — trying to make as much money from the franchise as possible.

trying to make as much money from the franchise as possible.
    Sad but true.
It is by now just a financial Product. Nothing more, nothing less.

Of course, I will have a look on the first episode.
But I bet, there will be no future.

To explain it by a simple example, why I have no hope:

In TNG the message was proclaimed that humanity no longer needed money. There would be education for all. People would have a social system in which everyone would have time to educate themselves to discover their cultural identity, with art, literature, music, etc..
Wars among men would also be put to rest.

If that were the case, how can you behave as stupid as in DS9, Voyager and all the following stories?

Already in DS9 Jake Sisko was happy about a scholarship at a university.

    Scholarship?

A scholarship is a financial support for artists, athletes, pupils, students or young scientists (who are then called scholarship holders) and as such is an essential element of the support of the gifted.

This would be the future without money? That was just one example of an infinite number.
While technology was attempted to represent physically logically, the cultural and social heritage was not logically thought through at all. The same conflicting and stupid behaviors as in all other non-science fiction series are simply spiced up technologically and that's supposed to be the future?

That's why Star Trek died for me.
