Those who know me probably know I love trees. This frangipanni, with kindergartener me hanging off it, was one of my favourites. It was a tree house for Vancouver Sis and me. We spent hours up there just hanging out, reading books, munching snacks, making frangipanni garlands, head wreaths or balls…

good morning, I get flashbacks more times than I'd like the freezing temp have risen 10 degrees above freezing an may get warmer today. I seem to have a mild reaction to the booster vaccine I had on Wed. my arm hurts but she administered it painlessly so it must be the venom vaccine. Sunny start with decorative clouds.

Good evening. I remember cold country where snow fell in the winter and I'm so glad to be far, far away from it. Those were the bad old days, before I found this wonderful country with my darling wife. We have a love to last forever and the price of living here is so low that my SS check is a middle class income. I've often said that I'm a lucky boy and I truly am.

Oh, and with the aid of some strong coffee, as well.

@Violante de Rojas I can smell their fragrance! I didn't know plumeria grew at all along the East Coast! Your friend is so lucky! I've only seen them in the tropics where they were so prolific and blossomed non-stop that we kids could pluck as many flowers as we liked whenever we wanted.

Flashback? Oh, right. I had this Pink Floyd - yt in my head when I got to work today, it brought with it memories of a concert, the one concert I saw in 1994 - and I went, then, expensive ticket and all, without the due enthusiasm but because I thought once in a lifetime, a cultural mass phenomenon that maybe I can understand only when I go.
So yeah, loud guitars, bombast, a Pink Floyd show ffs - some love for it came years later, but then I had already read too much of wien: heldenplatz (poem) and Crowds and Power (Canetti) to plainly accept some other 60k people were there to submit themselves, which I couldn't. The night of wonder? Nah, however 🎶🎵🎶 read as participative study in mass psychology. Everything else took time to develop.

    @David Calderon TY! 🎶 ❤️ 😄

@UnclePirate (Stan McCann) Eeek - A gila monster! I'd be horrified to come across this creature. Mind you, spending early childhood in the tropics ensured I have a healthy fear of reptiles.

Your pic triggered all sorts of reptile related flashbacks. From toddler onward we were allowed to roam unsupervised throughout the tropical gardens despite dangerous critters being commonplace. I didn't realize until recollecting these memories as an adult how much faith my parents had in the pack of dogs that were our constant guardians, indoors and outdoors. As a very active kid, I came across many deadly animals e.g. cobras, one of a long list of poisonous creatures, but those 4 legged guardians worked as a team to make sure my sisters and I were never in harm's way.

@Clarice Boomshakalaka Bouvier Hahahahahahahahaha! Talk about tripping... I was prescribed some CRAZY strong post (day) surgery meds yesterday. Max wonkiness, side effects and I still felt da pain! Per advice of friends with chronic pain problems, decided to try a very low dosage of diluted CBD oil (which is perfectly legal here now). Amazing difference - pain is gone, mind is clearing up and no side effects! Not making conclusions. Just very relieved.

So glad the CBD oil helped :D it truly is good stuff, isn't it? It's a Schedule 4 drug (prescription-only) here but i dont know if anyone's paying much attention to that futile attempt at usage-control. i invested in a litre of hemp seed oil, not so much for pain relief although that was what it was sold to me for (my inner jury is still out on that aspect) but for the Omegas and phytosterol. Latest blood tests show it's working :) Additional pluses: my hair and skin look fucking wonderful!

Every day is Flashback Friday for me.

    Funny thing.

I don’t know if this happens to anyone else... When I am doing certain things, I have specific memories/thoughts that I always do...

When I was on my computer (almost never, now and I don’t do this on my laptop) my mind always went to the commute into Manhattan on the Express bus from City Island. I think it first happened when I was working at the bookstore and my ex was in New York on business. I would be doing ordering of stock and I would be be imagining waiting for the bus, getting on it, the drive in to Manhattan, certain places I loved to go or placed I passed and never got the chance to go to, then the trip home...

If I am in the shower I think about something else, totally unrelated to showering.

At the kitchen sink, I think of a friend I know from Facebook...

Every chore has a specific event that my mind goes when I am doing it.

@Su Ann Lim Canoe Lake! I’ve been there. In high-school, after the Grade 13 course I took at (late lamented) The Haven, on Lac Lapeche, we went on a canoe trip through Algonquin Park. We ended the trip on Canoe Lake.

My favourite lake, however, was I think Green Lake (though I cannot remember exactly which it was) where the lake was clear as crystal and you could see to the bottom. There were HUGE logs, most likely from the logging days, looking like great marble columns fallen over each other, this way and that. There must have been a high copper content in the lake because everything was green (probably why I think it was Green Lake). The lake looked ten feet deep but was WAY deeper than that.

You literally felt that you could reach down and touch the logs. And beams of sunlight fell between the logs and filtered far down. It was etherial!

@mudhooks@pluspora.com The Algonquin is an impressive historical park with many special places for camping, canoeing, kayaking and hiking. I missed seeing Green Lake! The Algonquin loons were the most engaging throughout the day (not only mornings and evenings.) Ok, I'll admit others thought I was a little daft yodeling in response to them but they were always very curious and came by to swim alongside the kayaks and continue the singfest. (In contrast, westcoast loons are near mute. You see them around but it's rare to hear them.)

Ontario loon call Only a single voice. Imagine singing with a very responsive small chorus... 😍

#FidoFriday... We've been kinda busy shuttling Grandma Dog back and forth to the university for radiation treatment. They squeezed us in on a semi-emergency basis last week (details omitted because they are gross). 2 treatments out of 4 are done, and it is helping already. celebrant blowing party horn We don't dare leave her unattended for a full night's sleep, but we can at least let our naps overlap a bit now. We've been tag-team sleeping since about the first week of August, and it's exhausting. You'd think in a 24-hour day it wouldn't be a problem for 2 people to get something resembling 8 hrs' sleep. Nope.

Tangent: The randomness of dividing days into 24 parts just struck me. I'm suddenly wondering if anybody ever tried to metric-fy the measurement of time?

Maybe I just need a nap.
