    Hmm, I'm not completely convinced that all of it has been thought through very well. A phonetic alphabet needs to be unambiguous and quickly understood, ideally it should be possible to use it passively without learning.

    I learned the "Siegfried" version and even back then I was amused about names like "Paula", "Dora" or "Oedipus", which were really not very frequently used in German. Besides, "Paula" is not a good choice for passive use since there is also "Aula".

    But "David" for example is these days mostly known in English pronunciation. Instead of reverting back to a pre-Nazi version, I'd rather see one that is based on current language use. But then again, no, better not, because I still remember the orthography "reform"...
