Alta Vista was the first big web search platform I knew about. It was in the 90s some time. There were also some lesser ones with cute names like Dogpile. But when Google came along, it was like WalMart arriving in small town America. It was faster and more comprehensive, and brought news from all over the planet.

Too bad they have decided to break it now.

Alta Vista was just a web directory that didn't crawl the web by itself to index things. That's the "disruption".

and now they are teaching the AI to lie to people.
